SINGAPORE – November 6, 2008 – SingHealth IT Security Day 2008 ended on a positive note on 22nd October 2008, Wednesday at Singapore General Hospital’s auditorium. The event was well received by staff from not only SGH but various institutions within SingHealth and NHG. It has been a SingHealth’s tradition to organize an annual security seminar for their staff’s benefit to keep them abreast with the new technological trends and identify the latest security threats lurking. The Info Security team, co-organizers for this event has seen a surge in both the number of participants and their interest in security knowledge.
The collaboration between SingHealth and Transition Systems was match-make by a recent seminar hosted by Transition Systems at Marriott Hotel titled - Taking the Lead.
A member of the Info-Security team of SingHealth, Lee Chee Khan, Project Manager liked the quality of the presentations he attended. Overseas speakers from vendors represented by Transition Systems were flown in to speak in the various break-out tracks available on varied topics like security, networking and convergence. Transition Systems Sales Director, Serene Siow representing the Security Business Unit in Transition Systems said, “Educating the masses on the importance of IT Security within an organization is critical especially in a Healthcare environment. This event is also an excellent platform for our vendors who are security experts to share their knowledge with the staff from SingHealth organization.”
The seminar consisted of 2 tracks – the fundamental and advance. The speakers were able to cater their presentations during different tracks to suit the audience’s understanding of the foundations of IT Security. The topics varied from Wifi Security to virtualization of attacks to company’s networks and included case scenarios of how employees from different departments might be affected due to loss of confidentiality ranging from patient’s records, peer to peer communication, data transfer...etc. The kind sponsors of the seminar include F5, McAfee, Ruckus Wireless, Polycom and WatchGuard.
