Transition Security & Application forum - Balancing Act on Application Delivery

15 Sep 2009

“Visibility and control over all types of network traffic and emerging applications such as VoIP is vital to delivering a quality managed security service," said Patrick Foxhoven, CIO for CentraComm Communications, a leading managed security service provider (MSSP)

Application use varies from one enterprise to another and there is also an increasing need to improve the scalability of today’s middleware-based applications. Supported by a plethora of servers and software versions running on the network at any given time, while some applications are justified for business use, others are unknown even to the security administrator. And the security state of approved applications may also be unknown, thus creating potential network exploits.

As application use increases across the enterprise, from those which are internet-based such as peer-to-peer (P2P), Instant Messaging (IM) or VoIP to dynamic database, the need for application visibility and security management scalability in no longer a choice.

In a recent survey conducted by Information Security Media Group, respondents say they are more confident in their own applications vs. those developed by third-party service providers ... yet, they really don't demonstrate vulnerability assessment or remediation processes to justify any level of confidence.

We will discuss the following topics in the forum:

-   Intelligent load balancing in application delivery for better efficiency in application use
-   How network visibility can be achieved and managed
-   Integrated application security & vulnerability assessment techniques
-   Better regulatory compliance

We hope to enlighten you with a better understanding on better application delivery & control through sharing of case studies, best practices, technology showcases, live-demos and an interactive panel discussion.
